Berlin born stage director Hendrik Müller is one of the most versatile and interesting directors of his generation, and had established himself in Germany and aboard with productions such as Auber's FRA DIAVOLO at Theater Erfurt; Kurt Weill's STREET SCENE at Theater Münster; Humperdinck's HÄNSEL & GRETEL at the Daegu Opera House, where he also staged Verdi's RIGOLETTO and  Mozart's DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE; 
as well as with his highly acclaimed interpretation of RIGOLETTO  at Oper Frankfurt, where he has made his debut with a not less celebrated production of Cavalieri's RAPPRASENTATIONE DI CORPO ET DI ANIMA. 


Committments for the recent season 2023/24 include Verdi's DON CARLO as house debut at Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Puccini's MADAMA BUTTERFLY at State Theatre Meiningen, as well as Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD at Theatre Flensburg, where Hendrik Müller will overtake the position of the Opera-Director from the 2024/25 season.

Productions of the recent past included Mozarts LA CLEMENZA DI TITO as debut and house-debut at Theater Osnabrück, Chekov's THE CHERRY ORCHAD at Schleswig Holsteinisches Landestheater, as well as his first musical-production,  Mencken's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, as opening-premiere at the KOMPLEX, the new venue of Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin; where Mr. Müller already had stage on the main scene highly successfully the productions of WINTER.REISE. after Franz Schubert, Dvořáks RUSALKA, celebrated by the audience and the press as “... a brilliant theater of images of high esthetic appeal..."; and his first operetta, Kálmán's DIE CSÁRDÁSFÜRSTIN, not less acclaimed: “... a radical dusted off production, without any popular clishés and sentimental pathos...".  

Due to the Covid-pandemia, the productions of Verdi's MACBETH in Schwerin only could be shown for theatre-internal public, and Glanert's OCEANE and Gluck's IPHIGENIE EN TAURIDE at Theater Bremerhaven had to be cancelled; as well as the re-premiere of MAGIC FLUTE at Daegu Opera House.

But in 2020/21, despite the ongoing pandemic, Hendrik Müller made his first stage direction of a drama play, Arthur Millers ALL MY SONS at Schleswig Holsteinisches Landestheater, to which he returned in 2021/22 with an own "Covid-short-version" of Mozart's  DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, in an orchestration by Jonathan Dove.


And in 2021/22, he gave an overwhelming debut at the State Theatre Meiningen, continuing his close collaboration with Intendant Jens Neundorff von Enzberg (Ex-Regensburg), staging the re-discovered opera SANTA CHIARA with music by Duke Ernst II. of Coburg and Gotha, which was a huge international success after its world premiere in 1859, among others at the Opéra de Paris ,where Santa Chiara was performed more than 60 times.

In addition, he overtook in Meiningen the rehearsals for Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE in stage direction by Achim Freyer, whose assistant he was in the original p productions. 


His further productions included Bizet's CARMEN, the WORLD-PREMIERE of MINONA by Jüri Reinvere, nominated in the Annual Book of Magazine DIE OPERNWELT in the category "Best World-Premiere of the Year"; Puccini's Edgar, nominated by DIE OPERNWELT in the category "Re-discovery of the Year" and Eggert‘s controversial Freax, as staged world-premiere, chosen by DIE DEUTSCHE BÜHNE as "2nd best extraordinary opera-stage direction of the year" at Theater Regensburg; 
Bernstein's MASS at the Theater an der Wien / Neue Oper Wien; Vivaldi's TITO MANLIO at the Schwetzinger Winterfestspielen / Theater Heidelberg; Donizetti's VIVA LA MAMMA! LE CONVENIENZE ED INCONVENIENZE TEATRALI at the Wilhelma-Theater Stuttgart, Claude Vivier's  KOPERNIKUS and FAKE AND ERROR by Luke Bedford after Claudio Monteverdi at the Operafactory Freiburg; the Offenbach-adaption BERLINER LEBEN (after "La Vie Parisienne") and the Monteverdi-adaption PÜPPI, DIE KRÖNUNG (after "L’Incoronazione di Poppea"), both in arrangements by Barbara Rucha, at the Neuköllner Oper Berlin; 
as well as Anton Schweitzer's ALCESTE at Residenzschloß Weimar, the Ludwigburger Schloßfestspiele, the Gluck Festival Nürnberg and the Wieland-Tagen Biberach; multiple times nominated by the OPERNWELT in the category "Re-Discovery of the Year".

Next to his profession as stage-director, since the 2018/18 season, Hendrik Müller also is part of the Artistic Direction Team at the Austrian Summer-Festival Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen,  lecturer at the Conservatory in Berlin and appointed Opera-Director - from the 2023/24 season - at the Schleswig Holsteinisches Landestheater Flensburg und Rendsburg (Northern Germany)
